UWA Softball Falls to UWG, Tigers Win Series

CARROLLTON, Ga. - West Alabama's softball team closed out the Gulf South Conference series with a 3-0 loss to West Georgia Sunday evening at University Softball Field. With the doubleheader sweep on Saturday, the Tigers won the series.
 
The Tigers are now 8-4 overall and 2-1 in GSC play. The Wolves are 2-8 overall and 1-2 in the conference. 
 
UWG's pitcher Katie Morris (1-3) picked up the win in the circle. She scattered three hits, gave up no earned runs, and struck out seven over seven innings of work. 
 
Madison Wright (5-3) was tagged with the loss. She gave up three earned runs on eight hits and struck out six. 
 
Taylor Clegg, Emily Cowart, and Wright were the only Tigers who tallied a hit. 
 
The Wolves scored two runs in the first inning and one in the fourth to come away with the 3-0 shutout. 
 
The Tigers return to action on Saturday as they open up a GSC home series with a doubleheader against Auburn Montgomery. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at UWA Softball Complex.
