Tiger Softball Sweeps GSC Series Against AUM

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama softball's team defeated Auburn Montgomery 4-2 in a single game Sunday afternoon at UWA Softball Complex. With the wins, the Tigers swept the Gulf South Conference series.  
 
The Tigers are 11-4 overall and 5-1 in GSC play. The Warhawks dropped to 9-8 overall and are 3-3 in the conference. 
 
Madison Wright (6-3) pitched a complete game. She scattered six hits, did not give up any earned runs, and struck out two. 
 
Neither team scored in the first inning. The Tigers pushed two runs across the plate in the bottom of the second inning. Kori Young doubled, bringing LP Trammell across the plate. Wright singled, then advanced to second on the throw, scoring Young. 
 
The Warhawks scored a run in the fourth and fifth inning to tie the game at 2-2. In the sixth inning, Ann Marie Stanbridge hit a two-run homer, scoring Clegg. That was Stanbridge's fourth home run in the series. 
 
Wright didn't give up any hits in the seventh inning, allowing the Tigers to close the game with a 4-2 win over AUM.
 
Sydni Free (2-2) was tagged with the loss. She gave up four earned runs on six hits. 
 
The Tigers open the three-game series with a doubleheader against Christian Brothers on Saturday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
