Women’s Tennis Sweeps Shorter and Blue Mountain

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama women's tennis team had a busy weekend at Vaughan Tennis Complex. Starting the day off, the Tigers defeated Shorter, 7-0 in a GSC match. Following, the Tigers also defeated Blue Mountain, 6-0 last Saturday. 
 
"The women had a clean sweep against Shorter and Blue Mountain," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "The women's team extended their overall record to 7-0."

In doubles play, the Tigers quickly claimed the doubles point as the Hawks gave up their first doubles point on court No. 3 due to not having enough players. 
 
The Takanashi sisters, Emiri and Yurie,  defeated SU's Sydney Wright and Emma Novis, 6-1 clinching the doubles point. On court No. 1 Haina Franco and Ming Deewajee defeated SU's Andrea Medel and Sharick Hernandez, 6-1. 
 
In singles play, the Tigers won on all courts. On court No. 6, the Hawks gave up a single's point due to not having enough players.

Haina Franco paired with Ming Deewajee, the duo defeated BM's Tsveti Trifonova and Annabelle Natalini, 6-2 on court No. 1. The Takanashi sisters clinched the doubles point, defeating BM's Carlota Gascon and Kiara MacKay, 6-1.
 
In singles play, the Tigers did not get defeated on any court. Yurie Takanashi sweeped BM's Kristina Kozakova, 6-0, 6-0 on No. 2 court. Franco defeated BM's Trifonova, 6-2, 6-2 on No. 1 court. Heden Ly clinched on No. 3 court.
