Tigers Drop GSC Matchup to Delta State, 50-48

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball team dropped a Gulf South Conference matchup to Delta State 50-48 Saturday afternoon inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 
 
The Tigers dropped to 11-12 overall and are 8-11 in GSC play. The Statesmen improved to 10-14 overall and are 9-11 in GSC play.
 
Bria Dent led the Tigers with 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Maryanne Logsdon posted 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Kamille Clark added 10 points and three rebounds. 
 
The Tigers held the 25-22 lead at the half. Coming out of the half, Dent made a three and a jumper to improve the lead to 30-24. DSU went on an 8-2 run to tie the game at 32-33 with 3:59 remaining in the third quarter. UWA closed the quarter out with a 6-2 run to take the 38-34 lead. 
 
The Tigers scored the first four points in the fourth quarter. The Statesmen responded with a 12-2 run to take the 46-42 lead with 1:09 left in the game. Both teams scored six points in the last minute, but Delta State held off UWA to come away with the 50-48 win.
 
The Statesmen shot 41.3 percent (19-of-46) from the floor and 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from the free throw line. Camryn Davis led DSU's offense with 17 points and 10 rebounds. 
 
The Tigers hit the road on Saturday and head to Carrollton, Georgia, to face West Georgia. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. CT inside The Coliseum.
