Logsdon’s Last Second Jumper Lifts UWA over UWG, 64-62

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball guard Maryanne Logsdon hit a jumper with .5 seconds left in the game, allowing the Tigers to come away with the 64-62 Gulf South Conference win over West Georgia Saturday evening inside The Coliseum.
 
The Tigers improved to 12-12 overall and are 9-11 in GSC play. The Wolves dropped to 10-14 overall and are 9-12 in the conference. 
 
Bria Dent had a dominating performance, posting a season-high of 33 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Jala Williams posted her second double-double this season, scoring 13 points and dishing out 10 assists. Zoe Watts also had 13 points and pulled down eight boards. She also had four rebounds and three steals. Logsdon scored five points, grabbed five rebounds, and had four assists. 
 
Watts and Dent were the only two Tigers that scored in the first quarter of the game. Watts made two back-to-back threes and a layup. Dent added two layups to give the Tigers a 12-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. 
 
Both teams went back and forth at the beginning of the second quarter. With 6:46 remaining in the second, West Georgia made a three to take the 17-16 lead. UWA trailed 30-26 at the half. 
 
UWA posted 15 points in the third quarter but still trailed 50-41. The Tigers outscored the Wolves 23-12 in the fourth quarter. UWA started the fourth quarter with a 14-6 run to trim UWG's lead to 56-55. 
 
At the 2:08 mark, Logsdon made a free throw. Williams made a jumper with 36 seconds left to tie the game at 62-62. Logsdon knocked in a jumper with .5 seconds left to claim the 64-62 win over West Georgia. 
 
The Wolves shot 35 percent (21-of-60) from the floor, 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from beyond the arc, and 61.9 percent (13-of-21) from the free throw line. Katelyn Dunning led UWG with 15 points. 
 
The Tigers battle Christian Brothers on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. inside Canale Arena.
