Women’s Tennis Sweeps Montevallo in a GSC Match

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama women's tennis team sweeps Montevallo 7-0 in a GSC Match at Vaughan Tennis Complex Wednesday afternoon.
 
"I liked how the ladies competed today against a good team that pushed us on every court," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "The ladies came out, fought, and got the win."
 
The Tigers improve to an 10-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play. 
 
In doubles play, Hardija Vidnere and Heden Ly defeated UM's Eva Dirr and Erika Freire to take the lead right away on court No. 3, 6-1. Haina Franco and Irawan Deewajee were defeated by UM's Mireia Turro and Cyba Ozzor on court No. 1, 7-6. The Takanashi sisters defeated UM's Emily Hafner and Lieselotte Hartlohner 7-6, getting the Tigers the doubles point. 
 
In singles play, the Tigers won on every court. Franco defeated UM's Mireia Turro 6-4, 6-0 on court No. 1. Ly defeated UM's Emily Hafner 6-3, 6-1 on court No. 3. Vidnere took down UM's Eva Dirr 6-2, 6-2 on court No. 4. Deewajee defeated UM's London Breedlove 6-2, 6-4 on court No. 6. On court No. 5, Emiri Takanashi defeated Lieselotte Hartlohner 6-1, 2-6, 6-2. Yurie Takanashi had a tough battle against UM's Cyba Ozzor but was able to give the Tigers the win with a score of 6-4, 5-7, 10-1.
