Women’s Tennis Sweeps Delta State In GSC Match

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama women's tennis team swept Delta State in a Gulf South Conference match Saturday afternoon at Vaughan Tennis Complex, 7-0. 
 
"The women keep rolling and are looking forward to what is sure to be a battle at University of West Florida this Tuesday," head coach Jeff Beaman said. 
 
The Tigers improve to 11-0 overall and 5-0 in conference. 
 
In doubles play, Hardija Vidnere and Heden Ly swept DSU's Adriana Subias and Lucia Chacon Habis on court No. 2. The Takanashi sisters defeated DSU's Maria Caride and Sofia Pepe, 6-2. DSU did not have enough players, so they had to forfeit court No. 3. 
 
In singles play, Yurie Takanashi defeated DSU's Maria Caride 6-1, 6-0 on court No. 2. Ly defeated DSU's Sofia Pepe, 6-1, 6-1 on court No. 3 clinching the overall win for the Tigers. On court No. 1 Franco defeated DSU's Adriana Subias 6-0, 6-3. Emiri Takanashi swept DSU's Alyssa Landrum on court No. 5 6-0, 6-0. Vidnere took down Lucia Chacon Habis on court No. 4 6-0, 6-1. DSU did not have enough players, so they had to forfeit court No. 6.
