Men’s Tennis Drops GSC Match Against Valdosta State

PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Alabama men's tennis team dropped their match 4-3 Friday afternoon against Valdosta State at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
 
"Our men played what I feel like is one of the best teams in the country," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "We need to keep working hard across the board and our men could be at the same level." 
 
The Tigers are 6-4 overall and 4-2 in conference. The Blazers are 5-0 overall and 1-0 in conference. 
 
In doubles play, Lucas Hammond and Wilson Igbinovia were defeated by VSU's Luca Mack and Rodrigo Carvalho 6-1 on court No. 1. Nuutti Jokinen and Loic Danze defeated VSU's Chrisrian Wedel and Pedro Cordeiro 6-3, on court No. 3. Iliia Dehodiuk and Ilari Vesanen defeated VSU's Lamar Bartley and Christian Felline 6-4 on No. 2 clinching the doubles point. 

In singles play, Vesanen was defeated by VSU's Luca Mack 6-2, 6-2 on court No.1. Dehodiuk was defeated by VSU's Pedro Cordeiro 6-0, 6-2 on court No. 6. Rodrigo Carvalho defeated Jokinen on court No. 2, 7-5, 6-4. On court No. 4 Loic Danze was defeated by Christian Wedel 6-3, 6-3. Hammond defeated VSU's Christian Felline 6-4, 6-2 on court No. 5.  Igbinovia defeated VSU's Lamar Bartley 6-4, 6-1, on court No. 3.
