Tiger Softball Falls to Mississippi College in Game One of GSC Series

CLINTON, Miss. - The West Alabama softball team fell to Mississippi College in game one of the Gulf South Conference series 3-2 Friday evening at MC Softball Complex. 
 
The Tigers dropped to 16-5 overall and are 8-2 in GSC play. The Choctaws improved to 17-4 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
 
The only two runs of the game for the Tigers came in the second and fourth inning. Kori Young singled in the second inning, and LP Trammell hit her 11th home run of the season in the fourth inning to gain the 2-0 lead. 
 
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Mississippi College hit a three-run homer to take the 3-2 lead over the Tigers. Neither team scored the remainder of the game, allowing the Choctaws to claim the 3-2 win. 
 
Camryn Bailey (11-1) picked up the win in the circle. She gave up two earned runs on four hits and stuck out 11 over seven innings. 
 
Madison Wright (9-4) was tagged with the loss. She gave up three earned runs on three hits and struck out six over six innings of work.
 
The GSC series between the Tigers and the Choctaws continues Saturday with a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at MC Softball Complex.
