Women’s Tennis Defeats Valdosta State in a GSC Match

PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Alabama women's tennis team defeated Valdosta State 6-1 in a GSC match Friday afternoon at Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex. 
 
"The women continue to keep the foot on the gas and pushing through even though they are physically and mentally strained," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "It does not lighten up with three tough opponents in the next week." 
 
The Tigers are 13-0 overall and 7-0 in conference. The Lady Blazers are 1-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play. 
 
In doubles, Haina Franco and Ming Deewajee defeated VSU's Natalie Kohoutkova and Anastasiia Vorobiova 6-1 on court No. 1. The Takanashi sisters clinched the doubles point on court No. 2 defeating VSU's Olivia Pezo and Kayla Greco 6-1. On court No. 3 Hardija Vidnere and Heden Ly defeated VSU's Evelyn Altmaier and Shaye Longwell 6-1.

In singles play, Emiri Takanashi defeated VSU's Evelyn Altmaier 6-2, 6-2 on court No. 5. Deewajee defeated VSU's Shaye Longwell 6-2, 6-2 on court No. 6. Ly defeated VSU's Kayla Greco 6-4, 6-3 on court No. 3 clinching the overall win for the Tigers.
