Women’s Tennis Defeats No. 6 North Georgia in a Non-Conference Match

PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Alabama women's tennis team defeated No. 6 North Georgia, 4-3, in a non-conference match Wednesday afternoon at Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
 
The Tigers are 14-0 overall and 7-0 in conference. The Lady Nighthawks are 7-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
 
"This was as close as a match can get," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "The women put in great effort at all spots and picked up the big ranked win."
 
In doubles, Haina Franco and Ming Deewajee defeated NG's Johanna Lippert and Viktorie Wokcikova 6-2 on court No. 1. The Takanishi sisters were defeated 6-4 on court No. 2 by NG's Svetlana Teterina and Angelina Linnikova. Hardija Vidnere and Heden Ly defeated NG's Valentina Ascarrunz and Ashley Moinard 7-6 on court No. 3 clinching the doubles point for the Tigers.
 
In singles play, Yurie Takanishi defeated NG's Johanna Lippert 7-5, 6-2 on court No. 2. On court No. 5, Emiri Takanishi defeated NG's Ashley Moinard 6-3, 6-4. Ly was defeated on court No. 3 7-6, 6-4 by NG's Anna Markvartova. Vidnere was defeated by NG's Angelina Linnikova 6-2, 7-6 on court No. 4. On court No. 6, Deewajee was defeated by NG's Svetlana Teterina 6-7, 6-2, 6-4. Franco, defeated NG's Viktorie Wokcikova 7-5, 7-6 on court No. 1 clinching the Tigers the overall win.
