Men’s Tennis Defeats North Georgia in a Non-Conference Match

PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Alabama men's tennis team defeated No. 14 North Georgia, 4-2, in a non-conference match Wednesday afternoon at Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
 
"Our men showed up with good energy after yesterday's tough match," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "The men picked up the win against a very talented team."
 
The Tigers are 7-4 overall and 4-2 in conference. The Nighthawks are 5-3 overall and have not had a conference match this season.
 
In doubles play, Ilari Vesanen and Ilia Dehodiuk defeated NG's Robin Eldin and Daniel Ostap 6-3 on court No. 2. Wilson Igbinovia and Nuutti Jokinen defeated NG's Eliseo Alcalde and Giulio Sassi 6-2 on court No. 3, clinching the doubles point for the Tigers. Lucas Hammond and Marcel Hornung went unfinished on court No. 1 versus NG's Joaquin Benoit and Cole Brainard.
 
In singles play, Vesanen was defeated by NG's Joaquin Benoit 6-1, 6-1 on court No. 1. Jokinen defeated NG's Daniel Ostap 6-3, 6-1 on court No. 2. On court No. 5, Hammond defeated NG's Robin Eldin 6-4, 6-4. Dehodiuk was defeated by NG's Giulio Sassi, 6-1, 6-3. Igbinovia defeated NG's Cole Brainard 7-5, 6-0 on court No. 3, clinching the overall win for the Tigers. Loic Danze went unfinished on court No. 4 versus NG's Christopher Cahour.
