Wright Throws a Perfect Game, Tigers Sweep DH Against Lee

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama's softball pitcher Madison Wright continues to shine as she threw a perfect game in game two of the doubleheader against Lee University. The Tigers pounded out eight home runs on the day against the Flames to claim the 7-6 win in game one and the 15-0 shutout in game two Saturday evening at UWA Softball Complex.
 
The Tigers improved to 18-7 overall and are now 10-4 in GSC play. The Flames dropped to 6-19 overall and are 3-8 in the conference. 
 
Game One
The Tigers pounded out 11 hits, four being home runs, in game one of the doubleheader to claim the 7-6 win over the Flames. 
 
Down 6-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Tigers pushed three runs across the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at 6-6. In the seventh inning, LP Trammell doubled, scoring Ann Marie Stanbridge to close out the game with a 7-6 win. 
 
Four home runs were hit in game one. Trammell and Hannah Mynard each hit a bomb. Riley Sullivan hit a solo shot and a two-run homer. 
 
Eleanor De Block (3-1) picked up the win for the Tigers. She gave up no earned runs on two hits and struck out three over 2.1 innings of work. Mynard pitched 4.2 innings and gave up two earned runs on six hits while striking out five. 
 
Trammell tallied three hits in game one. Sullivan, Mynard, and Gilliam each had two. Trammell and Sullivan each collected three RBIs. 
 
Game Two
Junior Madison Wright threw a perfect game in a five-inning run-rule win over Lee in game two of the doubleheader. The Tigers had 10 hits and four home runs in the 15-0 shutout over the Flames. 
 
Wright retired all 15 batters faced through five innings, striking out seven of them. This is Wright's second no-hitter this season and first perfect game. 

All four bombs hit in game two were two-run homers. Sullivan and Trammell each hit a home run. Taylor Clegg hit two home runs.

The Tigers pushed five runs across the plate in the first, second, and third inning to come away with the 15-0 victory. 

Natalie Pruitt (0-4) absorbed the loss for Lee. She gave up six earned runs on six hits over 1.2 innings of work. 
 
After the doubleheader, Sullivan is leading the series in home runs with three. Trammell follows with two home runs. Trammell marked her 15th home run of the season. 

The Tigers close out the GSC series against Lee on Sunday with a single game. First pitch is set to start at noon at UWA Softball Complex.
