Men’s Tennis Defeated by AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – West Alabama men's tennis team fell to Auburn Montgomery 5-2 in a Gulf South Conference match Thursday afternoon at AUM Tennis Complex.

"A lose against a tough team," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "Time to regroup and get ready for this upcoming week."
 
The Tigers fall to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in GSC play. The Warhawks are 10-5 overall and 3-0 in conference.

In doubles play, Lucas Hammond and Marcel Hornung defeated AUM's Titouan Le Maout and Joao Guariente on court No. 1, 6-4. Ilari Vesanen and Ilia Dehodiuk took down AUM's Muhamad Bedwan and Asdrian Contreras on court No. 2, 6-4. Wilson Igbinovia and Nuutti Jokinen were defeated by AUM's Thibault Jacq and Giuseppe Bonaiuti on court No. 3, 7-6.

In singles play, Hammond was defeated by AUM's Titouan Le Maout on court No. 5, 6-4, 6-3. On court No. 6, Ilia Dehodiuk was taken down by AUM's Thibault Jacq in a three-set battle, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. Loic Danze was defeated by AUM's Adrian Contreras on court No. 4, 7-5, 7-6. On court No. 2, Jokinen was taken down by AUM's Muhamad Bedwan in a three-set battle, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6. Vesanen was taken down on court No. 1 by AUM's Joao Guariente in a three-set battle 4-6, 6-1, 7-5. Igbinovia is the only Tiger who won his court, by defeating AUM's Giuseppe Bonaiuti, in a three-set battle, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

The Tigers return to the court on Sunday for a non-conference match against No. 23 Lynn. The first serve is set for 2 p.m. at Perper Tennnis Complex.
