Wright Throws Her Second Perfect Game of the Season in the 12-0 Shutout Against Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala. -  West Alabama's softball pitcher Madison Wright threw her second perfect game of the season in a 12-0 five inning run rule win over Montevallo Friday evening at Softball Stadium at Orr Park. 
 
Wright is the only Tiger to throw two perfect games in one season, making program history. She is the third Tiger in program history to throw a perfect game. This marks her third no-hitter at UWA. 
 
The junior pitcher retired all 15 batters faced through five innings, striking out four of them.
 
The Tigers improved to 21-8 overall and are 12-4 in GSC play. The Falcons dropped to 10-13 overall and are now 4-5 in the conference. 
 
The Tigers pounded out 15 hits in the victory. Kelsie Gilliam and Emily Cowart led the Tigers' bats with three hits each. Taylor Clegg and Ann Marie Stanbridge tallied two hits. LP Trammell, Hannah Mynard, Riley Sullivan, Leah Beth Stewart, and Sydnee Pawlak had a hit. 
 
UWA pushed one run across the plate in the first inning, three in the third, and one in the fourth. Heading into the fifth inning, the Tigers held a 5-0 lead. 
 
In the fifth inning, UWA scored seven runs. Wright held the Falcons off in the bottom of the fifth to claim the 12-0 shutout over Montevallo. 
 
The Tigers close out the GSC series against Montevallo with a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Softball Stadium at Orr Park.
