Women’s Tennis Falls to Lynn Sunday Afternoon

BOCA RATON, Fla. – West Alabama women's tennis team fell to Lynn in a non-conference match, 4-2, Sunday afternoon at Perper Tennis Complex.
 
The Tigers fell to 16-1 overall. The Fighting Knights improve to 11-3 overall.
 
"I feel the Lynn women are one of the best teams in the country and this was a tough match at their place," head coach Jeff Beaman said.
 
In doubles play, Hardija Vidnere and Heden Ly were defeated by LU's Giorgia Pigato on court No. 3, 6-2. Haina Franco and Ming Deewajee defeated LU's Zofia Podbiol and Greta Schieroni, 6-3 on court No. 1. The Takanishi sisters clinched the doubles point by defeating LU's Salma Djoubri and Kristen Younes on court No. 2, 6-2.

In singles play, Ly defeated LU's Kristen Younes on court No. 3, 7-5, 6-3. On court No. 2, Yurie Takanishi was defeated by LU's Greta Schieroni in a three-set battle, 1-6, 6-0, 6-3. Franco was defeated by LU's Salma Djoubri on court No. 1 in a three-set battle, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Vidnere was defeated by LU's Giorgia Pigato on court No. 4, 6-1, 6-3. Deewajee was defeated on court No. 6, by LU's Barbora Cibakova, 6-4, 6-0. Emiri Takanishi went unfinished on court No. 5.


"We talked about some things we needed to work on as a group going into the match against Nova, and we are excited for the challenge," Beaman said.

The Tigers return to the court on Tuesday for a non-conference match against Nova Southeastern. The first serve is set for 2 p.m. at NSU Tennis Complex, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
