Women’s Tennis Defeats West Florida in a GSC Match

PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Alabama women's tennis team defeated West Florida 4-3 in a GSC match Tuesday afternoon at Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex. 
 
"The West Florida are a tough team and even tougher on their home courts," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "We dealt with a long hot humid day, a rain delay, and some injuries but preserved for the very important conference win."
 
The Tigers are 12-0 overall and 6-0 in conference. The Lady Argonauts are 4-5 overall and 2-2 in conference.
 
In doubles, Hardija Videnere and Heden Ly defeated Mayumi Saguchi and Nathalia Mossambani 6-4 on court No. 3 The Takanashi sisters clinched the doubles point defeating UWF's Jenna Svatos and Luiza Daud 6-4 on court No. 2. 
 
In singles play, Emiri Takanashi defeated UWF's Jenna Svatos 6-3, 6-1 on court No. 5. Franco defeated UWF's Mayumi Saguchi in a tough battle, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 on court No. 1. Yurie Takanashi defeated UWF's Carlota Verdu 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 on court No. 2 clinching the Tigers the overall win.
