Tigers Offense Stalls in Final Game of GSC Series Against Shorter

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama baseball team started off strong at the plate but lost momentum as the game progressed. The Tigers drop game three of its Gulf South Conference series against Shorter 9-6.
 
West Alabama exits the series with a 15-17 overall record with a 11-10 conference record. Shorter is now 17-16 and 10-11 in GSC matchups.
 
The Tiger bats were hot in the early innings as Jake Nemith and Houston Kitterman both hit home runs in the third and second innings respectively. Nemith finished with one run scored, two hits, and two RBIs while Kitterman had one hit, one run, and two runs batted in.
 
Left fielder Kyle Vogler hit the third and final home run of the game for the Tigers in the bottom of the ninth inning. Vogler finished the game with one run, two hits, and one RBI. Colden Peeples contributed one run, two hits, one double, and one run batted in.
 
Bryce Newman had one run scored and one hit being a double. Third baseman Michael Rich added one hit in his two at-bats and rounded out the bats for the Tigers.
 
Relief pitcher Javian Stone (0-2) was charged with the loss on the mound. Stone threw for 1.1 innings and allowed no hits, two runs, and two walks while striking out one batter. Jacob Smith started on the mound for the Tigers and allowed five hits, five runs, and four walks across 2.2 innings of work while striking out four out of the 17 batters faced.
 
Second baseman Norman Leon led the bats for Shorter, finishing with one hit and two runs scored. The Hawks stayed consistent at the plate with seven other batters finishing with one hit each.
 
Coy Martin (1-1) got his first win on the mound for the Hawks, allowing no hits, no runs, and two walks across three innings of work. Three other pitchers took the mound for Shorter.
 
The Tigers have a road trip ahead of them with the next four games coming on the road. The road trip will start in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where West Alabama will take on William Carey in a non-conference single game starting at 4 p.m.
