Tiger Softball Takes Down Tuskegee in Midweek Matchup

TUSKEGEE, Ala. - West Alabama's softball team swept the non-conference doubleheader against Tuskegee in a midweek matchup Wednesday evening at TU Softball Field.

The Tigers defeated Tuskegee 4-1 in game one of the doubleheader and 7-6 in game two of the doubleheader. 

With the wins, the Tigers improved to 35-11 overall. Tuskegee dropped to 22-17 overall. 

Madison Wright (21-7) picked up the win in the circle in game one. She gave up three hits and struck out nine over seven innings of work. Kayma Hampton (9-7) took the loss. She gave up one earned run and struck out seven. 

Anna Marie Stanbridge claimed the win in the circle in game two. Clark Caroline was tagged with the loss.

Wright led the Tigers from the plate in game one with two doubles and two RBIs. Kelsie Gilliam went 3-for-4 from the plate in game two with a double and a triple. 

The Tigers return to UWA Softball Complex on Friday as they take on Union in a single game. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. The doubleheader will be on Saturday at 1 p.m.
