Tigers Comeback Falls Short in Last Game of the Regular Season

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama baseball team's ninth inning rally was cut short, resulting in a 10-7 loss against Union.
 
The Tigers ended the regular season with a 21-26 record overall and 14-16 in Gulf South Conference play and Union ends their season 14-31 overall and 9-21 in conference matchups.
 
Shortstop Bryce Newman led the West Alabama bats, finishing with one run scored, one run batted in, and three hits in four at-bats. Jake Nemith added two hits and one run batted in.
 
Michael Rich hit a single-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning and finished with one hit, one run, and one RBI. Blake Vineyard had one hit and one RBI, and left fielder Kyle Vogler finished contributed two runs scored and one hit.
 
Josh Bower finished with one hit and one RBI and center fielder Colden Peeples added two runs scored.
 
Javian Stone (2-4) took the on the mound. Stone pitched for four innings and allowed three hits, five runs, and four walks while striking out three batters. Stone was among five pitchers that took the mound for the Tigers.
 
Britt Netterville led the bats for the Bulldogs, hitting a grand slam in the top of the fifth to give Union a 6-3 lead.
 
Starting pitcher Eli Snelson (2-2) earned the win on the mound. Snelson worked for six innings and allowed five runs, seven hits, and four walks and struck out three batters. Three other pitchers took the mound for the Golden Bears in relief.
