Tigers Fall to Valdosta State on the Road

VALDOSTA, Ga. - West Alabama's softball team fell 7-0 to Valdosta State in the final game of the Gulf South Conference series Saturday afternoon at Steel's Diamond.
 
The Tigers dropped to 29-10 overall and are 8-6 in GSC play. The Blazers improved to 32-6 overall and are 18-3 in the conference.

Kelsie Gilliam, Ann Marie Stanbridge, and Emily Cowart all had a hit. The Tigers had five batters left on base. 

 
Valdosta State started out the game with a big 4-0 lead after the first inning. The Blazers scored one more run in the second inning and two runs in the sixth inning to come away with the 7-0 win.
 
Madison Wright (17-7) absorbed the loss. Wright gave up seven earned runs on nine hits and struck out two over six innings of work
 
Samantha Richards (23-3) picked up the win in the circle. She gave up three hits, walked two, and struck out 10 over seven innings. 
 
The Tigers are back at UWA Softball Complex on Wednesday as they take on Southeastern Baptist College in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
