Tiger Softball Falls to Nova Southeastern in Extra Innings

SAINT LEO, Fla. - West Alabama's softball team dropped game one of the NCAA South Regional Tournament to the No. 3 seed Nova Southeastern 3-2 in 10 innings Thursday afternoon at University Softball Stadium. The Tigers dropped to 41-13 overall. The Sharks improved to 39-12 overall. 
 
The Tigers battle the No. 2 seed Saint Leo Friday afternoon at noon CT/1 p.m. ET. The loser will be eliminated from the tournament. The winner will play the loser of game three (No. 3 Nova Southeastern vs. No. 7 Auburn Montgomery) at 3 p.m. CT/ 4 p.m. ET.
 
LP Trammell tallied three hits with a home run and two RBIs. With the home run, Trammell tied the home run record in a single season of 21 bombs. Hannah Mynard tallied two hits. Kelsie Gilliam, Taylor Clegg, and Ann Marie Stanbridge each had a hit. 
 
Nova Southeastern scored the first run of the game in the third inning. Trammell hit a home run in the fourth inning to tie the game at 1-1. In the sixth inning, Trammell singled, scoring Gilliam to take the 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Sharks singled, tying the game at 2-2.

Over the three extra innings, UWA tallied three hits and had three left on base. In the bottom of the 10th inning, NSU hit a double to score a run to close the game out with a 3-2 win. 

 
Madison Wright gave up two earned runs on four hits and struck out five batters over 6.2 innings of work. Stanbridge pitched the three extra innings, giving up a hit and an earned run. 
 
Alyssa Drogemuller (29-19) picked up the win in the circle and pitched the complete game. She gave up two earned runs on eight hits and struck out six batters.
