Tiger Softball Falls to Alabama Huntsville in GSC Championship Game

OXFORD, Ala. - West Alabam's softball team fell to the No. 1 seed Alabama Huntsville 1-0 in the championship game of the Gulf South Conference Championship Tournament Saturday afternoon at Choccolocco Park. 
 
The Tigers dropped to 41-12 overall. The Chargers improved to 44-9 overall. The NCAA Division II Softball Selection Show will air Monday at 9 a.m. on NCAA.com. 
 
UWA only tallied two hits in the game. Ann Marie Stanbridge had a double, and Riley Sullivan had the other hit. UWA had four Tigers left on base.
 
UAH scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. 
 
Josie Thompson picked up the win for the Chargers. She pitched 4.2 innings, giving up two hits and striking out two batters. Katie Bracken got the save. She struck out three over 2.1 innings. 
 
Madison Wright (25-8) took the loss in the circle. She gave up one earned run on six hits and struck out seven batters over six innings of work.
