LIVINGSTON, Ala.- The University of West Alabama women's soccer team was defeated 3-0 by Lee University in Tiger Stadium tonight.
The first 27 minutes panned out as a shot for shot grudge match between the Tigers and the Flames. Lee opened up the action with a header shot in the 9th minute that fell wide. The Tigers followed suit with a shot from Sierra O'Grady that missed wide left in the 14th minute. Emily Djagbare took another crack at it in the 22nd minute, missing wide.
Lee would answer with a bang in the 27th minute, as Lee's Tatum Miller sent on to pay dirt, giving Lee the early 1-0 lead. Unfortunately for West Alabama, Lee would keep their foot on the pedal. The Flames Kate Dirske would put another one through in the 32nd minute, assisted by Avery Sides.
The Flames wasted no time continuing to fire off, as Hailey Johnson took a shot in the 47th minute, which was blocked by the Tiger. Lee's Jordan Blair followed suit in the 48th minute but was saved by Dior Wilson.
Lee once again cracked the Tiger defenses, as Jordan Blair took had another go at the goal and succeeded, setting up Lee with a 3-0 lead.
The Tigers would fight back, with Summer Fox taking two shots in the 67th and 68th minutes, despite being saved by the Flames Josie Taylor. Leahmae Keogh and Venla Makela would follow suit in the 75th and 87th minutes but would fall short.
