MONTEVALLO, Ala.- Women's Soccer was defeated on the road tonight in Montevallo 1-0 after a slow start offensively for both clubs, and some exemplary goal protection from the Tigers in the first half.
West Alabama goalie Dior Wilson built a stone fortress around the goal, recording 5 saves in the first half. The Falcons Bailey Ralphet went one on one with Wilson between the 8th minute and the 18th minute of the first half, taking three shots at Wilson, which would all be saves. The Tigers kept to their guns and held strong defensively but took no shots in the first forty-five.
Montevallo kept their foot on the gas, taking 11 shots total in the first half, keeping the West Alabama defensive busy early and often.
Montevallo would continue their light feet and quick offense into the 2nd half, taking eight more shots. Wilson defensive efforts wouldn't waver however, saving three more shots at the goal. West Alabama's Sierra O'Grady would take a crack at it in the 53rd minute, missing top left, followed quickly by a shot from Aileen Charles which was saved by the Falcons Jolie Cazale.
Despite the Tigers' best efforts to keep the Falcons out of the net, Isabel Dillehay found home in the 80th minute, with an assist courtesy of Morgan Goehrig.
The Tigers will travel back home to Livingston next Friday September 15th to open GSC play against Montevallo. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
