Women's Soccer Drops Home GSC Contest to Bulldogs

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Women's Soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to Union on Friday at the UWA Soccer Complex.

The Tigers, now 1-4-3 overall and 1-3-3 in GSC play, could not overcome a strong start from Union, who remained unbeaten in conference play with the victory.

Union scored in the seventh minute when Sophie Walsh netted her second season goal. The Bulldogs extended their lead just before halftime, with Rachel Shane finding the back of the net in the 43rd minute off an assist from Madison Woolridge. West Alabama responded quickly as Lily Graham scored her second goal of the season in the 45th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1 heading into the break.

Despite pressing for an equalizer in the second half, the Tigers couldn't find another breakthrough. Union added a third goal in the 84th minute, courtesy of Lucia Revuelto, who Joslyn Greene assisted.

UWA's goalkeeper, Dior Wilson, made eight saves, but the Tigers were outshot 18-11, with Union putting 11 shots on target compared to West Alabama's five.

West Alabama will aim to bounce back at home on Sunday, October 13th, when they face Christian Brothers at 1:00 p.m.
