LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Women's Soccer team secured a vital 2-0 victory over Christian Brothers on Sunday at the UWA Soccer Complex, improving their record to 2-5-3 overall and 1-3-3 in Gulf South Conference play. Christian Brothers, still winless, fell to 0-10-0.
The Tigers wasted no time getting on the board, as
Aileen Charles netted her third goal of the season in just the fourth minute, assisted by
Emily Callahan. The Tigers held this 1-0 lead for the remainder of the half, with both teams showing good defensive form. UWA goalkeeper
Dior Wilson made two saves to preserve the clean sheet.
The second half saw West Alabama extend their lead when
Shayen Graf scored her first goal of the season in the 64th minute, once again assisted by Callahan. Christian Brothers pressed but couldn't break through the Tigers' defense, with Wilson adding two more saves to complete her shutout performance.
West Alabama took 12 shots in total, eight of which were on target, while Christian Brothers managed 14 shots, only four on target.
The Tigers will now prepare for their next match, a road contest against Mississippi College, on Friday, October 18th, at 1:00 p.m
