Box Score Valdosta, Ga. - The University of West Alabama volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Valdosta State in Gulf South Conference play on Saturday, October 12.
The Tigers could not find their rhythm offensively, dropping the match in straight sets 25-12, 25-18, 25-18.
West Alabama struggled to keep pace with Valdosta State's efficient attack. The Tigers posted a hitting percentage of .065 compared to Valdosta State's .272. Attack errors hampered the Tigers' efforts, with 17 total errors versus the Blazers' nine.
Valdosta State took control early, securing the first set with a .261 hitting percentage. Despite a more competitive second and third set, West Alabama couldn't close the gap as the Blazers continued to pressure the Tigers with solid serving, tallying 15 service aces throughout the match.
The UWA's key players were
Jaida Alvin, who led the Tigers with seven kills, adding eight digs;
KB Kinney also contributed seven kills while hitting .278.
Taylor Lamontagne paced the offense with 18 assists and added two service aces. Defensively,
Peyton Quesnel and
Makenzie Widmer chipped in with four kills each, while
Gracie Huver added three digs.
The Tigers (2-15, 0-7 GSC) will look to bounce back in their next match, a home contest against Union on Friday, October 18th, at 6 pm in Pruitt Hall.
