LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama volleyball team fell 3-1 to Christian Brothers on Saturday, October 19, at Pruitt Hall in Livingston, Alabama.
Despite a strong start and a second-set win, UWA couldn't maintain the momentum as Christian Brothers took control in the final two sets to secure the victory.
In the opening set, the Tigers battled but came up short 25-22. UWA bounced back in the second set with a 25-21 win, driven by improved offensive efficiency. However, Christian Brothers regained their footing, winning the third and fourth sets 25-16 and 25-18, respectively, to close out the match.
Jaida Alvin led the Tigers with 10 kills, while
Peyton Quesnel and
KB Kinney each contributed eight kills. Kinney also recorded five aces, and
Gracie Pierscinski added eight blocks, anchoring the defensive efforts. Setter
Taylor Lamontagne tallied 32 assists and 12 digs to lead the team in both categories.
UWA posted a .203 hitting percentage, with 45 kills and 21 attack errors on 118 total attempts. Christian Brothers hit .264 with 47 kills and 18 errors on 110 attempts. The Tigers excelled in serving, tallying 10 aces compared to Christian Brothers' six, but struggled to match their opponents' consistency in blocks and kills.
The Tigers (2-18, 0-10 GSC) will look to regroup as they prepare to face Montevallo on Tuesday, October 22, at 6 p.m. in Livingston, Alabama.
