LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama women's soccer battled to a 2-2 draw against Auburn-Montgomery in a Gulf South Conference matchup on Friday evening at the UWA Soccer Complex.
Both teams traded goals throughout the match, but neither could find the game-winner.
West Alabama struck early in the 10th minute when
Aileen Charles netted her second goal of the season, assisted by
Amy Denholm. Auburn-Montgomery responded in the 18th minute as Lucy Thomas equalized.
The Warhawks took the lead in the 59th minute with a header goal by Lana Collado Lopez, but UWA fought back. In the 85th minute,
Lily Graham scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Selis Demirici, to tie the match.
Both teams finished with 14 shots, nine of which were on target. Goalkeepers on both sides made 7 saves, keeping the match level until the final whistle.
West Alabama (1-4-2, 0-2-2 GSC) will look to earn their first conference win in their next match against Valdosta State in a neutral site match in Americus, Georgia, on Sunday, October 6th.
