LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The West Alabama volleyball team is set for their final two regular-season matches on the road, facing Union University on Friday, November 15, at 6 p.m. in Jackson, Tenn., and Christian Brothers University on Saturday, November 16, at 2 p.m. in Memphis, Tennessee.
In their matchup with Union, West Alabama (2-26, 0-18) will look to improve on their season averages of 8.7 kills per set and 10.6 digs per set. Key contributors such as
Jaida Alvin, who leads the team with 2.08 kills per set, and
Maggie Roddam, who has been effective in the back row with 2.88Â digs per set, will be pivotal in the Tigers' efforts. Union (9-18, 7-11) enters with a balanced offensive approach, posting 11.6 kills per set and a hitting percentage of .178. The Bulldog's Reese Owens leads their attack with 2.86 kills per set and will test the Tigers'Â defense, which averages 1.4 blocks per set.
The following day, West Alabama will take on Christian Brothers (7-21, 3-15). The Bucs has been led by Ella Schumacher's impressive 3.38 kills per set and Jordan Allen's consistent presence at the net, contributing 2.22 kills per set. UWA will need solid performances from blockers like
Peyton Quesnel and
Gracie Pierscinski, who have combined for 82 total blocks this season, to disrupt Schumacher and Allen's rhythm. Christian Brothers' defense, allowing 14.1 digs per set, will be an obstacle for West Alabama's offense, which has faced challenges in finding consistency this season with a team hitting percentage of .065.
These two matches offer West Alabama a chance to end the season on a strong note and build momentum for the future. First serve on Friday against Union is set for 6:00 p.m. while Saturday's contest against Christian Brothers is slated for 2:00 p.m.
