LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama baseball team suffered a 12-0 decision to the University of Montevallo, Wednesday afternoon from Tartt Field.
In a non-conference contest, the Falcons improved to 5-3 on the year, while the Tigers dropped to 5-3.
After two scoreless innings, UM started its second time through the batting order with a one-out double by Connor Crowson to get the scoring started.
The Tigers responded by getting two runners on base with two outs, but the threat was averted thanks to a groundout fielder's choice.
The Falcons tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning to lead 3-0.
UWA had life in the bottom half with a
Houston Kitterman lead off free pass, but a double play and a groundout wiped away the chances the Tigers had.
After Montevallo worked around another double play on defense in the fifth, they added a run in the top half of the sixth and six in the seventh to put the contest away.
Bryce Newman,
Houston Kitterman,
Ryan Fletcher,
Nick Thibodeau and
Cade Horton all had base knocks for UWA in the contest.
Connor Crowson went 4-for-5 on the afternoon with a double and two RBIs to lead the Falcons.
West Alabama will next hit the road for the first time this season this weekend with a three-game series with Union, starting on Friday evening from Jackson, Tennessee.
