Baseball Downed by Spring Hill in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of West Alabama baseball team dropped a 12-0 decision to Spring Hill College in a midweek contest, Tuesday afternoon from Sims-Galle Field.

SHC improves to 9-6 on the year, while UWA drops to 8-8.

The Badgers got the scoring going with a two-run double by Seth Williams in the first, followed by three more runs in the second.

Leading 5-0, Spring Hill added four runs in the third, capped by a two-run single by Parker Serio before putting the game in run-rule effect with three more runs in the sixth.

The Tigers had their best opportunity to scratch a run across in the fourth after a one-out walk by Ryan Fletcher and a two-out knock by Cade Horton, but the threat ended on a strikeout.

Kyle Vogler, Cade Horton and Michael Allen Cole all had hits for the Tigers in the loss, while Ryan Fletcher earned two walks.

Toran Smith led the Badgers with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with three runs scored.

West Alabama returns to action on the road this weekend at Auburn Montgomery.
