CLEVELAND, Miss. – The No. 7 University of West Alabama women's tennis team blanked Delta State University in a Gulf South Conference contest 7-0, Wednesday afternoon.
UWA improved to 7-5 and extended its winning streak to 37 straight GSC matches with the midweek victory. DSU fell to 2-4 and 2-3 in league action.
It was a clean sweep in doubles, as
Heden Ly and
Khim Iglupas got the Tigers out to a 1-0 lead with a 6-2 victory at the top flight.
In singles, the Tigers held the Lady Statesmen to just 11 games won on the day. At the No. 5,
Greta Zawels (3-3) did not allow Weronika Kaczmarska to win a game, winning the point, 6-0, 6-0.
Iglupas (8-1),
Shaira Rivera (7-1), Ly (5-5),
Emiri Takanishi (6-4) and
Lolita Hukasian (2-1) all picked up victories in singles for UWA.
West Alabama began on Wednesday a five-match stretch away from Livingston. The trip continues with a neutral-site match against Central Oklahoma in Clinton, Mississippi on Wednesday, March 20.
