No. 3 Women’s Tennis Bounces Back with 5-2 Victory over Texas Tyler

TYLER, Texas – The No. 3 University of West Alabama women's tennis team rallied from Friday's loss to Midwestern State with a 5-2 victory over the University of Texas at Tyler on Saturday.

UWA goes back over .500 on the year and are 5-4, while UTT falls to 1-5.

"I like the way the women rebounded from yesterday's match. We had to continue to mix things up with the injuries, but our depth helped us today," said head coach Jeff Beaman

The top two doubles flights went to West Alabama, as Khim Iglupas and Heden Ly won the No. 1 position, 6-3 and Greta Zawels/Hardija Vidnere took the second position, 6-3. The victories got UWA out to a 1-0 lead.

In singles, the Tigers rolled to four points to secure the match. Iglupas, Emiri Takanishi and Vidnere earned straight-set victories, while Ly won the No. 2 flight, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (1).

West Alabama will wrap up play in the Lone Star State on Sunday with a neutral-site match with No. 8 Cameron (Okla.) in Tyler, Texas.
