ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - The University of West Alabama men's tennis team was defeated by No. 8 Florida Southern College 4-0 at Sanlando Park on Tuesday afternoon.
West Alabama drops to 4-7 on the year, while Florida Southern moves up to 14-3.
The Mocs took the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 flights. Lucas Hammond and Jacob Tapia made it interesting at the top, but they were defeated 6-3 by Chris Fok Kow and Mario Garoz.
In singles action, Florida Southern made quick work of the West Alabama men, defeating UWA in all three completed contests to earn the 4-0 win.
Eita Ishikawa fell to No. 49 Mario Garoz 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 3 spot, while Vilislav Bonev was taken down by Braun Simo in flight No. 4, 6-3, 6-1.
Gabriel Jornert clinched the match for FSC in the final spot with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Caden Goldammer.
The Tigers will continue their road trip on Wednesday as the men will take on Rollins College. The first serve is scheduled for 2 pm EDT.
