Women’s Soccer Edged, 1-0, by Clayton State

MORROW, Ga. – West Alabama women's soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to an unbeaten Clayton State team on Friday afternoon at Laker Field in front of 130 fans.

The early goal by Clayton State forward Madison Nicolas proved to be the difference, as the Tigers were unable to break through offensively.

Clayton State capitalized less than a minute into the match, with Nicolas scoring off a rebound from a saved shot in the first minute of play. Following the early strike, West Alabama's defense largely held strong thanks to goalkeeper Dior Wilson's six saves.

The Tigers were limited to four shots, with only two on target, while Clayton State fired 18 shots, seven of which were on goal. Clayton State's defense remained strong throughout, allowing UWA only a few clear chances.

The match saw a physical contest, with both teams combining for 24 fouls. Despite a solid defensive stand and moments of offensive pressure, West Alabama couldn't find the equalizer.

With the loss, West Alabama drops to 1-1-0 on the season, while Clayton State improves to 3-0-0. The Tigers will return to action on Sunday, September 15th, when they face Nova Southeastern at home in the UWA Soccer & Track Complex at 11:00 AM.
