Tigers Fall to Sharks in Sunday Morning Contest

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama women's soccer dropped a close 1-0 decision to Nova Southeastern Sunday morning at Tiger Stadium.

Despite a resilient defensive effort, the Tigers could not overcome a second-half goal from Nova Southeastern's Alexa Bereczki.

Bereczki scored the match's only goal in the 56th minute, capitalizing on one of NSU's 16 total shots. UWA goalkeeper Dior Wilson performed well, recording six saves to keep the Tigers in the contest. Offensively, West Alabama struggled to find momentum, managing just six shots, with only two on target.

Nova Southeastern dominated the possession category, taking 11 corner kicks compared to UWA's two, but the Tigers held their own defensively and kept the match within reach until the final whistle.

With the loss, West Alabama falls to 1-2 on the season. The Tigers will look to bounce back as they travel to Cleveland, Tennessee, to face Lee University in their GSC opener on Friday, September 20th. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
