Cleveland, Tenn. – West Alabama women's soccer dropped its Gulf South Conference opener, falling 3-0 to Lee University on Friday evening at the Ray Conn Sports Complex.
The Lady Flames came out strong, scoring early and maintaining control throughout the match to secure the victory.
Jordan Blair got Lee on the board just seven minutes into the game with a curling shot into the far upper corner, assisted by Grace Berry. The Lady Flames added two more goals early in the second half, with Isabella Valentine scoring from 20 yards out in the 51st minute and Berry sealing the win with a shot from 18 yards after a 360-degree move to evade her defender in the 54th minute.
The Tigers struggled offensively, managing only two shots, one on target. Lee dominated the match with 21 shots, 10 of which were on goal. UWA's
Dior Wilson made seven saves, but the Lady Flames' relentless attack was too much for the Tigers to handle.
West Alabama drops to 1-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in GSC play. The Tigers will look to bounce back in their next match against Trevecca Nazarene on Sunday, September 25th, at 2:00 p.m. in Nashville, Tennessee, for another GSC contest
