Tigers Set for Home Stand Against Trojans and Flames

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women's basketball team returns to Pruitt Hall for a two-game homestand, hosting Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 5 p.m. and Lee University on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. The Tigers (2-15, 2-11 GSC) look to snap a four-game skid as they continue conference play.

UWA kicks off its homestand with a matchup against Trevecca Nazarene (6-13, 3-10 GSC) on Greek Night, where students and fans are encouraged to represent their fraternities and sororities. The Trojans enter the contest averaging 54.1 points per game while allowing 63.4, posting a -9.3 scoring margin.

The Tigers will need to take advantage of Trevecca's struggles with ball security, as the Trojans average 19.7 turnovers per game. UWA's defense, led by Kendall Lacoste (13.6 PPG, 1.2 APG) and Callie Cowan (8.6 PPG, 32 steals), will aim to force mistakes and create transition opportunities. Shayla Golden, who averages (9.2 PPG, 6.4 RPG), is another key scoring threat for UWA.

For Trevecca, Amaya Thomas (10.7 PPG, 5.5 RPG) and Tatum Shaw (10.4 PPG) lead the offense, while Cheyenne Trotter (8.6 PPG, 7.9 RPG) provides a strong inside presence. UWA will need to contest outside shots, as the Trojans have made 90 three-pointers this season.

The homestand concludes with a tough test against Lee University (15-4, 9-4 GSC), a team known for its efficiency on both ends of the floor. The Flames enter the matchup averaging 69.8 points per game while holding opponents to 55.4.

Lacoste and Cowan will once again be focal points for the Tigers, while Shayla Golden also looks to make an impact in the paint. UWA will need to improve its shooting, currently hitting just 36.5% from the field and 27.6% from three, to compete with a disciplined Lee squad. Who looks to have Mallory Hampton (17.8 PPG, 2.1 SPG) and Haylee Johnson (10.3 PPG, 5.0 RPG) go off for them again.

UWA is seeking its first home win since Jan. 9 and will rely on its home crowd for support. Tip-off for Thursday's Greek Night game against Trevecca Nazarene is at 5 p.m., with Saturday's matchup against Lee set for 2 p.m. at Pruitt Hall.
