CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team faced a challenging road matchup on Saturday, October 4, falling 3-1 to Lee University at Paul Dana Walker Arena.
UWA started strong in the first set, jumping to a 6-0 lead with early kills from Cadence Goeden and Klára Bobánová, complemented by a timely block from Gracie Huver. The Tigers maintained a competitive edge, but Lee rallied late to take the set 25-23. West Alabama responded in the second set, with Goeden, Katerina Korre, and Jana Petkovic leading the offense to a 25-17 victory.
Lee captured the third and fourth sets, capitalizing on strong offensive play and UWA errors to close out the match. Despite the setback, the Tigers had several standout performances. Bobánová finished with 14 kills and 13 digs, while Goeden ended the match with 21 kills to lead the offensive effort. Petkovic orchestrated the offense with 36 assists and showed up on defense with 13 digs.
Looking ahead, UWA will travel to Montevallo on Tuesday, October 7, to close out their series with the Falcons after a thrilling 3-2 victory at home earlier this season. The Tigers aim to build on their strengths and secure a crucial Gulf South Conference win.
