LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team hits the road Tuesday night for a Gulf South Conference matchup against the Montevallo Falcons. First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside Central State Bank Arena.
The Tigers (6-7, 2-4 GSC) look to bounce back after a four-set battle with Lee University last weekend. Montevallo (5-10, 2-4 GSC) enters the contest on a high note following a win over Valdosta State, setting up a key midseason matchupbetween two evenly matched squads aiming to climb the conference standings.
Tuesday's meeting marks a rematch of their five-set thriller just two weeks ago, when UWA edged out Montevallo 3-2. In that victory, Klára Bobánová and Cadence Goeden powered the offense with a combined 39 kills, while Jana Petkovicdelivered a season- and conference-high 58 assists. For Montevallo, Danielle Greene was a force at the net with 12 kills and a career-best 10 blocks.
The Tigers continue to find balance offensively, with Goeden coming off a career-high 21 kills against Lee, followed by Bobánová's 14 and Katerina Korre's seven. Petkovic once again steered the attack with 36 assists and shared the team lead in digs (13) with Bobánová. Ava LaCoste and Petkovic each tallied two aces, while Gracie Huver and Korre anchored the defense with three blocks and 10 digs.
Montevallo brings its own firepower into the rematch, led by Maggie McColley and Nikol Antova, who both recorded 13 kills in the Falcons' last outing. Robbins and Erdal combined for 42 assists, while libero Ava Wind posted 29 digs to pace the defense. At the net, Greene, McColley, and Ellise Hanson each contributed three blocks.
With both teams looking to build momentum in GSC play, Tuesday night's showdown is expected to be another tightly contested battle between familiar foes.
