Tigers Come Up Short Late in Road Battle at West Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla. — West Alabama (2-3, 0-2 Gulf South) fell 67-61 to West Florida (6-3, 1-0 Gulf South) on Saturday in a back-and-forth matchup featuring 13 ties and eight lead changes. The Tigers won the battle on the glass 39-33 and posted 12 second-chance points but couldn't overcome a late Argos run.

UWA opened strong with a 12–2 start and held a 30–27 halftime lead behind timely defense and scoring from Bellah Machen, Haley Nichols, and Kendall Lacoste. The teams entered the fourth quarter tied 49–49 before Lacoste's early three briefly put the Tigers back in front. West Florida responded with a decisive push down the stretch to secure the win.

West Alabama returns home next week for two conference matchups, hosting Lee University and Trevecca Nazarene.
