Tigers Secure Senior Day Victory over Buccaneers, 74-69

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama picked up a hard-fought 74-69 win over Christian Brothers on Senior Day at Pruitt Hall, earning the program it's second straight season with a victory on Senior Day.  

Shayla Golden led the Tigers with a dominant double-double, scoring 20 points while grabbing 13 rebounds. Kendall Lacoste added 19 points, knocking down two three-pointers and converting 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. Kaedre Denson also played a key role, finishing with 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting.  

The Tigers started strong, outscoring the Buccaneers 21-15 in the first quarter while shooting 50% from the field. West Alabama maintained its lead heading into halftime, but Christian Brothers made a push in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to a single possession at times. Jada Hood had a game-high 30 points for the Buccaneers, hitting eight three-pointers, but the Tigers held on by sinking clutch free throws down the stretch.  

Sydney Schwallie facilitated the offense efficiently, dishing out 11 assists to go along with three points. The Tigers dominated in the paint, outscoring CBU 40-28 inside while also winning the rebounding battle 40-39.  

West Alabama (4-19, 4-15 GSC) now turns its focus to a road matchup against Montevallo on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 5:30 p.m.
