Tigers Set for Final Road Trip of Season Against Falcons and Warhawks

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama women's basketball team will wrap up its final road trip of the regular season with matchups against Montevallo on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 5:30 p.m. and Auburn-Montgomery on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. The Tigers (4-19, 4-15 GSC) look to finish strong before returning home for their final game of the season.

West Alabama has struggled offensively this season, averaging 61.0 points per game while allowing 71.2. The Tigers have shot 38.0% from the field and 28.3% from three-point range. Leading the charge is Kendall Lacoste, who paces UWA with 14.6 points per game and has knocked down a team-high 51 three-pointers. Shayla Golden has been a force in the paint, averaging 10.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest, while Callie Cowan adds 9.5 points per game.

Defensively, UWA has been active with 7.9 steals per game but has struggled with turnovers, committing 19.6 per contest. The Tigers will need to limit mistakes and improve their efficiency on the offensive end to be competitive on the road.

Montevallo (10-13, 8-10 GSC) enters the contest looking to stay in the hunt for a conference tournament spot. The Falcons average 63.3 points per game while allowing 67.4. They have been slightly more efficient offensively than UWA, shooting 38.9% from the floor and 29.1% from beyond the arc.

The Falcons are led by Aubrey Sorrells, who averages 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Lia Edwards (11.1 ppg) and Jordan Gillies (11.0 ppg) provide additional scoring threats. Montevallo has struggled with turnovers, averaging 17.3 per game, which could give UWA opportunities to capitalize in transition.

Auburn-Montgomery (11-12, 9-9 GSC) presents another challenge, averaging 65.5 points per game while giving up 68.2. The Warhawks are a strong rebounding team, holding a +3.2 margin over opponents, and shoot 42.3% from the floor.

AUM is led by Allasha Dudley, who averages 17.6 points per game while shooting 38.1% from the field and 31.4% from three-point range. Samya Brooks (11.8 ppg) and Danielle Luckey (9.7 ppg, 10.1 rpg) provide additional firepower. The Warhawks have been strong defensively, averaging 8.7 steals per game.
UWA has struggled with giveaways, averaging nearly 20 per game. Taking care of the ball will be crucial. The Tigers will need to disrupt Montevallo and AUM's offensive rhythm, especially on the perimeter. Golden and Kaedre Denson (8.0 ppg, 5.6 rpg) will need to be active in the paint against two strong rebounding teams.

With two tough road tests ahead, UWA will look to finish its away schedule on a strong note before returning home for the final game of the season.
