LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama women's basketball team wrapped up its season with a 66-48 loss to Alabama Huntsville on Thursday evening at Pruitt Hall.
The Tigers (4-22, 4-18 GSC) started strong, taking a 15-13 lead after the first quarter. However, a tough second quarter saw UWA manage just four points, allowing the Chargers (23-5, 18-4 GSC) to seize control of the game. Alabama Huntsville outscored West Alabama 18-4 in the period and maintained their momentum throughout the second half.
Shayla Golden led the Tigers with 13 points, shooting 5-of-9 from the field.
Kendall Lacoste followed with 12 points, converting all six of her free throws.
Kaedre Denson contributed eight points and seven rebounds, while
Sydney Schwallie added four points and a team-high six assists.
Alabama Huntsville was powered by Lili Wilken's game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds. Bella White and Haley Nichols also scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Chargers shot 50.9% from the field and held a 36-18 advantage in points in the paint.
Despite a solid defensive effort that forced 13 turnovers, West Alabama struggled from three-point range, hitting just 2-of-11 attempts. The Tigers showed fight in the second half, scoring 14 in the third and 15 in the fourth, but could not overcome UAH's efficient shooting.
With the loss, West Alabama concludes the 2024-25 season, while Alabama Huntsville continues its push toward the postseason.
