BOCA RATON, Fla. – A late two-run homer in the eighth inning proved to be the difference as West Alabama fell to Lynn, 6-5, in a closely contested matchup on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers (3-5) fought back from an early deficit, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-3 lead. Lynn (4-3) responded with a run in the seventh before a clutch home run by Danny Rogers in the eighth put the Fighting Knights ahead for good.
Lynn struck first in the opening frame, capitalizing on an RBI double by Cole Fowler and an RBI single from Leon Paulino to take a 2-0 lead. West Alabama answered in the third when

The Fighting Knights added another run in the fifth off another Fowler double, making it 3-1. West Alabama's big sixth inning began when
Bryce Newman reached on an error, allowing two runs to score. Wilkerson then brought in another run with a groundout, and Wood capped off the rally with a fielder's choice RBI, giving UWA a 5-3 lead.
Lynn chipped away with an RBI single from Paulino in the seventh before Rogers' two-run homer in the eighth sealed the win.
Baker Green got the start for UWA, allowing three runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings.
Jacob Marshall (1-1) took the loss in relief. For Lynn, Brad Benton (2-0) earned the win with three innings of work, while Nathan Shane picked up the save.
West Alabama will return home to Tartt Field on Tuesday, Feb. 11, for a 4 p.m. matchup against Tuskegee.
