Women’s Tennis Extends Winning Streak to Four with Win over UT Tyler

TYLER, Tex. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis team extended their win streak to four on Saturday with a 4-3 win over Cameron University while the Men fell 7-0.

"The women won a battle that could have gone either way," said head coach Jeff Beaman. "We learned a lot about  toughness with this match." Some of them are pretty banged up mentally and physically so tomorrow's match against a dominant msu team.  We need to win 3 in a row to win the gsc tournament, so a perfect preparation to see where we are at."

Shaira Rivera and Valentina Mutilba kicked off the match, by winning their doubles match 6-3 while the duo of Alexa Milliam and Emiri Takanishi clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win victory.

In Line One singles, Rivera moved to 5-0 on the year with a (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) victory over Carla Rodier while Milliam also stayed perfect on the season with a (6-3, 6-3) over Allison Schwartz in Line Three.

With the match on the line, Lolita Hukasian secured her first win of the season in Line Six, defeating Luisa Moraes (6-4, 7-6, 7-5) to clinch a 4-3 win for the Tigers.

"Some of them are pretty banged up mentally and physically so tomorrow's match against a dominant MSU team will be tough.  We need to win three in a row to win the GSC Tournament, so a perfect preparation to see where we are at."

West Alabama will conclude the GSC-Lonestar Crossover with a matchup against Midwestern State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
