VALDOSTA, Ga. - The University of West Alabama Softball team concluded their three-game series against The Valdosta State Blazers with a 10-0 loss in Game Three on Saturday.
No. 22 West Alabama (14-9, 7-5 GSC) only allowed five hits to Valdosta State (11-11, 7-4 GSC) but three of those hits were Home Runs, while UWA also struggled offensively, registering just one hit.
Madison Wright got the ball for the Tigers and pitched four innings, allowing six earned runs on five hits.
West Alabama's best opportunity to push across a run came in the first inning. UWA put runners on second and third with one out in the first inning until a pop out and a line out retired the Tigers' side.Â
In the bottom half of the inning, VSU struck for three runs off the bat of Carly Bogart who hit a three-run Home Run. The score remained at 3-0 in favor of the Blazers until the third inning when Charlotte Phillips hit a three-run homer of her own to put West Alabama behind, 6-0.Â
Taylor Clegg recorded the lone hit of the after for UWA in the fourth inning before Valdosta State extended their lead to 10-0 after an RBI-single from Aniston Gano and Bogart's second Home Run of the day.Â
The Blazers closed things out in the fifth as the Tigers fell 10-0.
West Alabama will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Montevallo for a three-game series against the Montevallo Falcons.
