LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Former University of West Alabama Women's Soccer players, Dior Wilson and Amy Denholm have signed professional soccer contracts after tremendous careers with the Tigers.
Wilson, who started at Goalkeeper the last two seasons, recently signed with KF Vllaznia. As for Denholm, she signed with Motherwell FC after playing four years with West Alabama, starting as a Defender in the past two seasons.
"We are proud to announce that two of our former Tigers, Dior and Amy, have signed professional contracts," said UWA Head Coach Sam Wilson. "Both made significant contributions to our program throughout their time here, and their achievements reflect the hard work and dedication they displayed on and off the field."
Wilson proved that she was ready for the professional ranks this past seasons as the Goal Keeper recorded 81 saves which ranked second in the GSC. Wilson also registered a .779 save percentage, putting her third in the conference. As a result of racking up saves on a nightly basis, Wilson pitched four shutouts in the 2024 season to put her amongst the best Division II Goal Keepers in the league and nation. For her career, the Goal Keeper accumulated 161 saves and nine career shutouts, leaving her mark on UWA's program.
In her West Alabama career, Denholm played in 56 career matches, making 37 starts. The Defender anchored the Tigers' backline to 18 shutouts across her illustrious career. The new Motherwell FC signee scored two goals from her defender position, with both coming in the past two seasons, accumulating six points. Off the field, Denholm is a four-time GSC Honor Roll honoree and a CSC Academic All-District selection.
Both Wilson and Denholm have relocated and are ready to make their debuts for their respective clubs.
"We look forward to continuing this momentum in the coming months as more Tigers pursue opportunities at the professional level," Wilson closed.
